Here are your DIYbo events for this week. On Monday, Oakland is having a meeting of the Vegan Cheese Team, Toronto is having a discussion on the recent paper CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing in human tripronuclear zygotes, that has made a rather large splash. On Thursday Brooklyn hosts a talk by John Borghi separating the fact from fiction in modern cutting edge neuroscience. On Friday, Washington, DC is hosting an interview of some shifty guy. On Saturday in Baltimore Michael Weirzbicki leads a 5-day intensive course on engineering bacteria to produce fine banana scented isoamyl acetate, as an introduction to introduce bacterial chemical production, and Oakland and Sunnyvale are in San Mateo for a Maker Faire.

On Wednesday, Brussels is having some talks by Jonathan Ferooz, Carlos Peña, Martina Francesca Ferracane, and Tom Van Oudenaarden, Denver holds a workshop on how to look critically at published biologic papers, with the example of aging, and Moscow is taking a trip to the Polytech Lab. On Thursday, Berkeley is having a protocol hackathon, while enjoying a cocktails, etc, Carlsbad is having some fun with a simplified fluorescence microscope, Denver has Martin Borscht Jensen speaking on the Biology of Aging, and Toronto is doing some directed evolution of bacteria.

On Tuesday Amsterdam is having a ceremony for the graduates of the BioHack Academy, where participants will present their work on building a fully functioning lab -microscopes, centrifuges, handmade spectrometers, and incubators—all with materials commonly found at home. On Wednesday, Charlottesville talks about the rising tide of synthetic biology, on their way to forming a new biohackerspace, London hosts the Synbiobeta two-day event, Oakland has a panel discussion moderated by Kevin Connelly of EII, featuring Miyoko Schinner, Shane and Marie, and Ben Rupert on how to make vegan cheese delectable, and Seattle holds a sourdough bread fermentation workshop. On Thursday, Synbiobeta continues in London. On Saturday, Baltimore introduces artists, makers, and the public to 3-D tissue engineering, including bio-printing, with talks and hands-on demonstrations by pioneers and experts, including Sebastian Cocioba, Axel Guenther, David Kolesky, Ritu Raman, and Anderson Ta. Bethesda celebrates DNA day, while doing some planning, and messing around with diy cell phone microscopes, while Nicole McNeil shares a little bit about spectral karyotyping and FISH techniques, and Seattle has eyeball dissection guided by Anna McCann.
