DIYbio events for the week of June 12

Here are your DIYbio events for the week.  On Sunday, Albany has Dr Elavarasi Joseph presenting and leading a discussion of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, Bethesda will be meeting in Reston, VA where Mana will demonstrate an EEG controlled sculpture and you can participate in various projects, and Oakland continues their Open Insulin project.  On Tuesday Amsterdam continues on various plant based projects, Beijing has a synthetic biology conference, Brooklyn has a workshop providing the guide RNA design background and discussion points to prepare for hands-on CRISPR/Cas9 experimentation, and Sunnyvale continues with their quantum salinity detector project.  On Wednesday, Cambridge will be part of an open science workshop and maker faire, Charlottesville will be carrying on a game of rating attractiveness through the isolation of sensory inputs, Los Angeles will be allowing you to help Lola Dompe or do your own bio-art project, Oakland will be continuing with their Open Insulin and fun fermentation projects, Somerville has a study group for a biology online study course , Sunnyvale continues work on their fluorescence microscope project, and Vancouver celebrates its one-year anniversary. On Thursday, Baltimore has a short workshop to develop pipette and plasma DNA isolation skills, Brooklyn has Dr David Putrino giving a talk on the Science of Human Performance, Cambridge plans for the creation of a biomakespace, Denver has a guest speaker Erika Stith talking about how biology will drive the future of space travel, Melbourne has guest presenter Dr Ken McGrath discussing  DNA sequencing, Shanghai has a synthetic biology conference, Shenzhen will be playing around with smartphones and microscopes to create 3-D micro and macro images,  Sunnyvale continues their bioprinting project, and Vancouver will be doing a workshop on restriction enzymes. On Friday, Austin is calling for citizen science projects in pursuit of a big prize, Baltimore has G. Thomas Caltagirone PhD giving a seminar on aptamer use in diagnostics and drug discovery, Shenzhen has a synthetic biology conference, and Sunnyvale has a brainstorming session on biotechnology and climate change.  On Saturday, Baltimore is looking for high school iGEM team members, Bethesda will be at the USA National Maker Faire, and Oakland will be doing a workshop on molecular dynamics simulation and continuing on their project of hacking microfluidics for use in space.
