Here are your DIYbio events for the remainder of this week.  On Wednesday, Denver is attending a talk on protein biomarkers, San Diego is hosting a talk in La Jolla by Stephanie Nehasil on Marine Mammals as Ocean Sentinels, and Stockholm is having a conversation about biohacking and morphological freedom, featuring Kjell Asplund, Waldemar Ingdahl, Linus Petersson, and Hannes Sjöblad.  On Wednesday, Charlottesville holds a debriefing of Shaun Moshasha, as he relates his recent experience as an iGEM judge, Seattle has Lisa Ma bringing the latest research of diverse medical management systems from around the world, where strong beliefs in witch doctors, herbalists, and body healing is finding a space in the world of biotech, and Vancouver hosts Ian Johnson as he gives an informal talk about genetic techniques used in agriculture.  On Thursday, you can help Oakland make its Kickstarter prizes, and Toronoto will be discussing the book “The botany of desire: a plant’s-eye view of the world” by Michael Pollan. On Friday, Denver will be serving strawberry DNA cocktails at the Makers After Dark pre-party for the NOCO Maker Faire. On Saturday, Denver will be at the NoCo Mini Maker Faire (tickets can be had here),  Oakland will be working on a project to build an E.coli that produces its own sunscreen, and then use directed evolution to improve it. (Oakland is also providing means to access this remotely), and Sunnyvale will be hosting Alex Porter as he holds a class on brewing your own beer.

To see when the next event is in your area, check the full list of usual suspects. Don’t see one near you? Why not have your own and get it posted here? Tell us about it by emailing events@diybio.org . It would be great to post some photos of your event somewhere. We’d love to see them. We do have some guidelines for what is posted, and are not capturing every event within the community.
